The world breaks every one and afterwards many are strong at the broken places.
- Earnest Hemingway | A Farewell to Arms
Grief is an ever-evolving state of being. It hits hard, lasts longer than we expect, and changes us to our core.
We experience grief for a multitude of reasons. Some of us have lost loved ones, be they pets or humans. Some have lost the vision of their dreams. Others have lost connection with themselves.
Whatever has led to your grief, know that while your circumstances are solely yours, and other people may not have experienced what you have in the way you have - grief is a universal experience that we all share. Grief sometimes looks like this:
sadness, anger, frustration, disbelief, hopelessness
crying all of a sudden, "for no reason"
moments when you forget that you've lost something important to you - and oppositely, moments where it hits you like a ton of bricks
the desire to avoid, distract, or numb from the pain
the feeling that no one else understands you or your circumstances and how they've changed you
the desire to quit, give up or walk away
questioning yourself, your skills, your body, your relationships, and how you've spent your time
Many people won't tell you that you may carry your grief for a long time - if not forever. But, with the right skills and tools, you learn how to distribute the weight and become strong enough to carry the load.
At Counseling Reimagined, we provide you with the tools to fully experience your grief. We teach you how to hold it and process it when it surfaces, and eventually, you will learn how to flow through life with a new strength you never knew was possible before.
If you're interested in learning more about how to heal and grow from the pain you're experiencing, we're here. And if we can't help, we're happy to point you in the direction of someone who can!
